2014 Wheeler Central Graduation

Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 2:30 PM in the Wheeler Central New Gym

Class Colors:  Teal and Gold

Class Flower:  Carnation tipped in Teal

Class Motto:  The question isn’t who’s going to let us; it’s who is going to stop us.

From the Desk of the Superintendent of Gary Klahn

Each family in our school district should have received a letter informing them of our lack of meeting our Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) at Wheeler Central Elementary School. We as a district, are required to provide additional information concerning our situation.

Currently, we have 38 students enrolled in our Elementary school with 0 taking advantage of school choice. We have no other school districts in our county, so if any students would like to use school choice to attend a different school district, we would provide a list of potential schools. The area of our lack of AYP is in mathematics. Some of the steps we have taken to counteract this is both a school and a district are:  1) Make full utilization of our School wide Title I designation to provide additional assistance for all students, 2) The district purchased the Saxon Math Series for all grades K-6 which has been used by other school district to try and improve testing scores, and 3)  As  a district and school, we will make serious attempts at encouraging all students to try and achieve their very best when we begin taking the NeSA tests later in the Spring
